As I've mentioned before we just moved to North Carolina. And for a few months we're living with my sister while we look for a place that we like.
When we were about an hour from pulling up to their house with our big moving truck I sent her a text message that said, "We're an hour away and I brought the best surprise to show you guys. I think you're going to like it."
Then, an hour later, I walked into her house with my little prego belly and Sue started yelling and jumping up and down. That was the first that she had heard for my pregnancy and I was 17 weeks along.
We had told all our other family (except my dad who came out 2 days later. I told him then and he cried :) ) at Thanksgiving when I was about 14 weeks along. We wanted to wait until the doctors took me off of "high risk" status before we let people know. I waited the few weeks later to tell my dad and sister because they were the only family that we would see in person to share the news. I wanted to see their reaction, not just hear it.
Well anyway, the point of that little story/tangent was to get to this. My sister was so excited that the day after Christmas we went out to the yarn store and bought some fabulous yarn for her to crochet a baby blanket for the little man.
Isn't it gorgeous? We decided to go with a very simple stitch in a very simple palette and pattern. I am in love with it.
The colors we used are (all Kraemer Perfection Worsted Yarn):
Fluff - full skeen
April Shower - full skeen
Winter Lake - half skeen
Sand - full skeen
Winter lake - half skeen
April Shower - full skeen
Fluff - full skeen
and it's a double crochet stitch with an H hook.
The finished blanket is about 36in x 36in. Perfect for a little stroller or cuddle blanket.

I LOVE this blanket! This is why I'm grateful for my mother who can make beautiful things like this for my children. They would be seriously deprived if she didn't!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations Missy & Brad. And the blanket Sue made is beautiful! Judd and I are so happy for you two and Abi!
