I grew up in a neighborhood full of exceptional cooks. Like really really good food. One year they got together and published a cookbook. Everyone that wanted to submitted recipe and then you could purchase one. I was in high school at the time, but I snatched one up as fast as I could and I've used it almost everyday since.
This is my favorite banana bread recipe. It's so simple, but makes me feel so fancy whenever I make it. Like I had slaved away for hours to produce such deliciousness.
Simple Banana Bread
1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup water
1 cup sugar
2 egs
3 medium mashed ripe bananas
2 1/2 cups flour
1 tsp vanilla
1 tsp soda
1 cup nuts (optional)
Cream butter and sugar. Add water, eggs and banana's. Mix and sift dry ingredients. Pour into greased loaf pan. Bake 30 minutes at 350*.
